Duffield has had a long tradition of producing outstanding squash players. Millie Tomlinson, Joel Hinds, Paul Hargrave, Laura Hill and Kevin White featured on a number of occasions in our championship winning PSL teams.
Although we have no PSL team at the moment, the club is still recognised as one of the best clubs in the country and we need to nurture and develop young talent for the future of the game.
We are pleased to announce that we are going to support a youth academy. Felix Frixou, who for many years managed our award winning PSL team has agreed, with the help of fellow member Dean Gregory, to manage the new academy. In recognition of this, the Academy will be called the ‘Duffield Felix Frixou Squash Academy‘.
The academy will be officially launched on Wednesday 19th April by a good friend of Duffield, Commonwealth Champion and ex World Champion, Nick Matthew.
Nick, a great ambassador for the sport, will be at the Club from 2:00pm until early in the evening. Members are invited to come along and join us to celebrate this new venture.
Joining the academy will be by invitation only and details of its manifesto and rules can be accessed here or viewed on the club’s notice board.
