Nick Matthew, 3 time World Squash Champion and top string for Benz Bavarian Duffield PSL team, has been made an OBE in the Queen’s birthday honours for services to his sport.
Aged 34, Nick has has an incredibly successful career winning 33 titles on the PSA world tour, three World Championship titles, three Commonwealth Games gold medals and a record number of British National Championship titles. Currently ranked number two in the world, he is England’s most successful Squash player of all time, and recently became a father.
Speaking of his pride at the honour, Nick said “It’s incredibly special for me personally but it’s also great to see squash recognised like this”
“I think it’s a really great sign for our sport and it’s very humbling when you look at the other people on the list and you see how much they have achieved in different areas of life, especially all the people who have devoted their lives to helping others.”
