On Wednesday 23rd Sept, the club’s AGM was held. It was pleasing to see the AGM well attended, with comprehensive review of the year gone by as well as much discussion around some key themes facing the club in the year ahead.
Additionally, a number of club awards were announced:
The Thompson Salver
Awarded to one of the many volunteers who have made a significant contribution to the club over and above what could be expected.
Winner: Sara Elliss for her contribution to running the club’s website and her efforts in promoting the club.
Roy Squires Club Player of the Season Award
This award is for a player who has made a significant contribution to the success of the teams over the season
Winner: Ralph Cooper, a new young player who played 18 team matches, winning 17 of them!
The Barrie Anderson Junior Award
This award goes to a junior player who has made significant progress over the year
Winner: Francesca Sulley. Francesca has represented Derbyshire since she was 11 and now at 13, is the under 17 Derbyshire Champion as well as having several other awards to her name.
The Ager Family Junior Merit Award
Awarded to a promising junior who shows real potential.
Winner: Matt Gregory, who in his first year of membership with the club, has shown great dedication to improving his game and this has lead to him being selected for the under 13’s county boys team as well as being runner up in the recent grand-prix.
The Lesley Sturgess Junior Volunteer of the Year Award
Awarded to someone who has been a significant help to coaching staff and shown by their conduct and application to be an excellent role model to others.
Winner: Oliver Lowe, who as a volunteer, has helped out with the younger junior coaching sessions on numerous occasions including the cub groups and has contributed greatly to Matt Gregory’s development and success. Oliver will soon to be playing No.1 in the county boys u15 tournament which is a great achievement for him. He is a perfect role model for any junior to follow.
